Anarchism

No, not people who go around blowing things up ! Anarchism is actually a perfectly respectable philosophical and practical pursuit.

I am re-reading Mexico Unconquered: Chronicles of Power and Revolt at the moment. A number of names and histories have come up that are just totally unknown in the West, at least in the places I have been hanging out.

What shocks me is listening to people on the left (or the right) express their mystery over how Capitalism works or how Colonialism could have invaded yet another country (Iraq being just the latest in a long line), yet there are thousands of important works out there by researchers and writers who have been well respected for decades. It is not a mystery why we went into Iraq, or why the latest Green project is sabotaged in government, or why people are still in a state of poverty. Far from being "just the way things are" we live in a situation where the most shabby approaches are taken to these problems. The tools for understanding them are all around and yet time and time again people fail to educate themselves, become frustrated and throw in the towel never to return. It doesn't have to happen that way.

Some collected connections are listed below (will grow as I read the book)
